Dec. 14, 2016—Virgil Maddox, director of instruction at Cypress Springs High School, was named the new principal at Kahla Middle School on Dec. 14. Maddox replaces Ana Martin, who was named principal at Cy-Fair High School last month.
Maddox has 13 years of experience in education, including seven years in CFISD. His career began as a special education teacher in Hancock ISD and soon transitioned into a special and general education English teacher at Spring Woods High School. He served six years at Spring Woods, including five seasons as the head boys’ track and field / cross country coach, before accepting an assistant principal position at Cypress Springs.
He served Cypress Springs for five years as an assistant principal before being named director of instruction in January 2015.
Maddox received his Bachelor of Science in Health & Exercise Science from Oral Roberts University and his Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University.
“I am honored and thankful for the opportunity to serve and lead as the principal of Kahla Middle School,” Maddox said. “I look forward to partnering and building meaningful relationships with the staff, students and community. Together, we will develop, encourage and motivate the next generation of leaders. I am excited to be a Kahla Knight!”
