Nov. 6, 2013—Elizabeth Wood, the associate principal at Cypress Falls High School, was named the new principal for Salyards Middle School on Wednesday. Wood replaces Jill Smith, who was named the director of human resources for professional staffing and employee relations last month.
Wood has served as the associate principal at Cypress Falls for five years. Prior to that assignment she served as the school’s director of instruction for six years and the academic achievement specialist for one year.
Her administrative career was preceded by a 14-year teaching career that began with five years in Louisiana, followed by nine years teaching at Cypress Falls.
Wood received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Louisiana State University and her Master of Educational Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University.
“I am extremely humbled, honored and excited about the opportunity to serve the staff, students and community of Salyards Middle School as their new principal,” Wood said. “I look forward to continuing to build on the strong foundation that has been established.”
