CFISD names new principal for Tipps Elementary School

Jan. 20, 2021Felicia Thomas, assistant principal at Duryea Elementary School, was named the principal at Tipps Elementary School on Jan. 20. Thomas replaces Kari Hough, who will retire on Jan. 31.

Thomas has 15 years of experience in education, including nine in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. Before joining CFISD in 2011 as a counselor and instructional specialist at Andre’ Elementary School, Thomas taught in Dallas, Alief and Katy ISD. She has also served as an assistant principal in Royal ISD.

Thomas earned her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin and her Master of Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary. She has also completed graduate coursework in school counseling and educational leadership.

In addition, Thomas is a graduate of the district’s Aspiring Principal Institute and is a New Administrator Institute facilitator.
