CFISD Student of the Week: Alan Moon

March 27, 2018—Spillane Middle School eighth-grade student Alan Moon had his artwork “The Cow in Troughs Time” earn Best of Show in the Middle School division of CFISD’s Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Program. He was also named HLSR’s Junior High Grand Champion and had his artwork auctioned off for a record $60,000.

Accomplishments: Moon’s artwork “The Cow in Troughs Time” earned Best of Show in the Middle School division of CFISD’s Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Program and followed by being named HLSR’s Junior High Grand Champion. The artwork was auctioned off for $60,000, which set a record.

Favorite class: “Science because I’m not just memorizing facts and figures, but learning a deeper understanding of the world around me and how it works.”

Favorite things to do after class: “Playing soccer and running track. I like video games and of course, drawing and painting in my free time.”

Favorite website: “YouTube.com because watching random videos helps me relax.”

Ambition: “I dream of becoming a neurosurgeon. I’m interested in the human mind and knowing how it works.”

What topics/things are you passionate about?: “I enjoy art and focus my efforts on realism. I’m passionate about my work and the satisfaction of sitting back to see the finished piece after months of effort.”

What inspires you?: “I just enjoy life and the world around me.”

What three things can’t you live without?: “Family, friends and my phone.”

What are you most looking forward to this semester?: “Finishing this year strong and moving on to Cypress Woods High School next year.”
