CFISD Student of the Week: Brooklyn Adams

May 6, 2019—Millsap Elementary School fourth-grade student Brooklyn Adams moved to CFISD from Memphis, Tenn. and has quickly embraced the school’s culture while not only excelling in the classroom but also helping her fellow classmates.

Grade: 4


Accomplishments: Adams hasn’t let being a new student to Millsap deter her from becoming a model student and someone willing to step in and help her fellow classmates, according to her teachers. She excels in her writing and is credited by teachers with inspires others through her essay writing.

Favorite class: “My favorite class is PE because we get to do different activities likes kickball, cat and mouse, and make it, take it. Sometimes when we go outside for PE, we get to jog and that is good exercise for me.”

Favorite things to do after class: “My favorite thing to do after class is reading. When I was in kindergarten, it was the first thing I learned to do. Right now, I am reading Beagle and a Backpack by Ben M. Baglio.”

Favorite website:KidBiz because there are different kinds of articles about many different things.”

Favorite TV show:Raven’s Home because her son knows the future and they are psychics. The mom doesn’t know the son has it and the son doesn’t know the mom has it. I relate to that show because I do that sometimes with my sister. My mom also thinks of things in the future and they happen.”

Favorite movie:Black Panther because his dad died in the movie and my dad also died. The Black Panther was fighting for his people and my dad one time had a stroke and fought the stroke like the Black Panther fought his enemies.”

Ambition: “I’d love to be an author one day because my teacher, Ms. [Christine] Hopkins, says I’m a good writer. I never thought I was a good writer until this year. When I was able to go read my essay to Mrs. [Joy] Dauphin, the principal, she said I had a great introduction and she know what good writing is. I never thought I was a good writing until they told me that I was.”

What topics/things are you passionate about?: “I like different types of art because it’s really creative.”

What inspires you?: “My art inspires me because I can use all kinds of shapes and colors in it.”

What three things can’t you live without?: “The internet because I can learn so many things, watermelon because it is my favorite kind of fruit and my mom. She is the main one that has taken care of me, she inspires me and she supports me.”

What are you most looking forward to this semester?: “I am looking forward to getting a good grade on the science test.”
