Sept. 17, 2018—Dean Middle School student Caitlyn Nguyen is an honor roll and HORIZONS scholar who was among 13 eighth-graders recognized by the Duke University Talent Identification Program in the spring for meeting grand level qualifying score criteria.
School: Dean Middle School
Accomplishments: Nguyen earned grand level recognition by the Duke University Talent Identification Program in the spring and is the only Dean student enrolled in geometry.
Favorite class: “Principles of Hospitality and Tourism since I like cooking and sewing.”
Favorite things to do after class: “Listening to music.”
Favorite song: “Silence by Marshmello and Khalid.”
Favorite website: “YouTube.com as there are so many things to learn and engage in including studying.”
Favorite TV show: “Friends is a very funny show.”
Ambition: “To be successful and to prove that I can do whatever I put my mind to.”
What topics/things are you passionate about?: “Cooking.”
What inspires you?: “Being able to compete with my sister which pushes me to be better.”
What three things can’t you live without?: “My phone, food and sleep.”
What are you most looking forward to this semester?: “Getting to know my peers more and being more involved in school.”
