CFISD Student of the Week: Caleb Mayo

Feb. 11, 2019—Labay Middle School eighth-grade student Caleb Mayo is a two-time UIL Solo and Ensemble superior medalist and TMEA region choir member.

School: Labay Middle School

Age: 13

Grade: 8

Accomplishments: Mayo was a tackle for the Labay football team and earned UIL Solo and Ensemble superior medals two consecutive years. In addition, he is an Eagle Scout candidate.

Favorite class: “I like science because we get to do a lot of experiments in that class.”

Favorite things to do after class: “I like to play video games and football.”

Favorite song: “I don’t have a favorite song but I like all pop music.”

Favorite website: “I like Snapchat.”

Favorite TV show: “I like vintage shows like Alf.

Favorite movie: “I like Godzilla because I’m interested in sci-fi movies.”

Ambition: “I want to go to the University of Texas and eventually become a veterinarian.”

What topics/things are you passionate about?: “I like being in choir and being part of the Boy Scouts. Serving other people is important to me.”

Who inspires you?: “J.J. Watt is a big inspiration to me because he’s not only a good football player, but he also helps the community and has overcome injury with a positive attitude.”

What three things can’t you live without?: “My mom, football and choir.”

What are you most looking forward to this semester?: “Auditioning for region choir and moving on to high school at Cypress Falls.”
