Jan. 7, 2019—Salyards Middle School eighth-grade student Charleigh Thomas made the distinguished honor roll and is a member of both the Treble Choir and the Bengals’ Basketball A Team.
School: Salyards Middle School
Accomplishments: Thomas is a member of Salyards Treble Choir and Baskeball A Team, and the honor student was also chosen to present to the District Leadership Team (DLT) about No Place for Hate initiatives.
Favorite class: “Algebra is my favorite class because it comes really easy to me. I also enjoy the way there are multiple ways to solve problems which allows for choice in getting an answer.”
Favorite things to do after class: “Practice basketball so that I can be the best I can possibly be, reading, cooking with my mom and doing charitable work.”
Favorite song: “I don’t really have a favorite song but I do like hip hop music.”
Favorite TV show: “Gossip Girl and Pretty Little Liars.”
Favorite movie: “Night School.”
Ambition: “I would like to attend Sam Houston State University to major in journalism and minor in photography. I like to express myself in writing to be able to inform others of important information.”
What topics/things are you passionate about?: “I am passionate about equality and originality. I want everyone to be their own person.”
What inspires you?: “Michelle Obama inspires me because of her beliefs and the way she lives.”
What three things can’t you live without?: “Family, food and my phone.”
What are you most looking forward to this semester?: “I am looking forward to basketball season, making as many middle school memories as possible and our eighth-grade formal.”
