CFISD Student of the Week: Christian James

Oct. 22, 2018—Hairgrove Elementary School fifth-grade student Christian James is a member of the campus fifth-grade leadership team, a challenge his teachers say he routinely also does with his work and other campus activities.

Age: 10

Grade: 5

Accomplishments: James is routinely identified for his ability to lead in various areas on campus. He is a member of the fifth-grade leadership team and his teachers said James is able to use those same traits to excel in the classroom.

Favorite class: “My favorite class is science because I like to study and to investigate with hands-on experiments. Life science is my favorite part of science.”

Favorite things to do after class: “I love to spend time with my family and play board games with them.”

Favorite song:Anything by Bruno Mars.”

Favorite website:Prodigy math (prodigygame.com) because it is challenging on so many levels and you get to be a wizard and fight monsters.”

Favorite TV show:America’s Funniest Home Videos (AFV) because they are really funny and the animal and baby videos are my favorite.”

 Favorite movie:Black Panther because it is so action-packed and the suit is totally cool. My favorite superhero is Black Panther and my favorite color is black.”

Ambition (and why): “I want to be a zoologist because I love animals. My favorite dog is a pug and my favorite animal is a black panther.”

What topics/things are you passionate about?: “Superheroes, video games and animals. I am also learning more about my culture and where my parents came from.”

What inspires you?: “Going to college. I want to be like my sister and go to (The University of Texas).”

What three things can’t you live without?: “School, my parents and my friends.”

What are you most looking forward to this semester?: “I look forward to hanging out with my best friend because we have been best friends since first grade. I look forward to being a sight-word buddy and a role-model for the younger students. Also, the pep rallies and representing (Hairgrove Assistant Principal Michelle) Lee’s League, especially since our theme is superheroes.”
