CFISD Student of the Week: Ethan Hughes

Nov. 11, 2019—Cypress Creek High School senior Ethan Hughes serves as an anchor for “CFISD 360,” the district’s news and sports production in collaboration with campus audio/video production (AVP) programs and CFISD cinema, as well as “This Week at Creek,” the campus’ version.

Age: 18

Grade: 12

Accomplishments: Hughes is in maintenance mode after he was diagnosed with leukemia at the beginning of the 2018-2019 school year, excelling in his classes and serving as an example to those around him. He was granted a chance to meet and spend time with Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson and wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins in August on behalf of the Make-A-Wish foundation.

Favorite class: “Audio/video production practicum where I work as a videographer and on-air personality. I’ve helped create hype videos, highlight reels and other news packages for Cy Creek as well as the district.”

Favorite things to do after class: “I used to compete in motocross. I love being active and working with people.”

Favorite movie: “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective because of the off-the-script moments.”

Ambition: “To be an amateur motocross champion.”

What topics/things are you passionate about?: “Sports and family.”

What inspires you?: “Haters as I love to prove to people that I can do anything I set my mind to.”

What three things can’t you live without?: “Phone, pool and laptop.”

What are you most looking forward to this semester?: “Making memories for the last time in high school.”
