March 18, 2019—Truitt Middle School sixth-grade student Howard Kim finished as the runner up in his school’s spelling bee, has performed in eight musicals and also competes as a Level 7 gymnast.
School: Truitt Middle School
Accomplishments: In addition to being Truitt Middle School’s spelling bee runner up, Kim has participated in eight musicals in addition to competing as a Level 7 gymnast outside of school.
Favorite class: “I love to read everything. My favorite class is language arts because we get to read and my favorite place to visit is the Truitt library.”
Favorite things to do after class: “When I’m not in school, I like reading and practicing gymnastics. I also enjoy baking.”
Favorite website: “I like to go on the Barnes and Noble website and find new books to read.”
Favorite movie: “Right now, my favorite movie is The Darkest Minds because I recently met the author of the book series (Alexandra Braken) when she visited Truitt.”
Ambition: “I haven’t decided on many future plans yet, but I am considering working in the theatre.”
What topics/things are you passionate about?: “I am passionate about gymnastics and books.”
What/who inspires you?: “I’m inspired by Kristin Chenoweth and Lin Manuel Miranda and respects the work they have done.”
What three things can’t you live without?: “My dog, books and water.”
What are you most looking forward to this semester?: “Reading more books.”
