CFISD Student of the Week: Joy Turner

Nov. 28, 2016—Keith Elementary School fifth-grade student Joy Turner counts not only good grades but a loving attitude among her accomplishments. A member of the school’s Name That Book team and a student council class representative, said she enjoys helping others and lending a helping hand. She aspires to be a professional singer and inspire others through her lyrics.

Accomplishments: Name That Book team member; student council class representative; former member of Cougar PACK (Principal’s Advisory Committee of Kids).

Favorite class: Mr. [Jason] Haynes’ math class.

Favorite things to do after class: “I love to play outside with my friends and family! I study a lot after school to make good grades.”

Favorite song: Fight Song by Rachel Platten

Favorite website: Prodigy. “It is a fun way to practice math and I can do it at home.”

Favorite TV show: Nickelodeon has the funniest shows!

Favorite movie: Zootopia. “I love to try everything, and that is the message in the movie.”

Ambition: “My goal is to be a singer, because I love to sing and inspire others to give them confidence.”

What topics/things are you passionate about? “I believe in helping others and lending them a hand. Also, always being active and participating in everything to make a difference for others. I always smile and want to be happy every day—no matter what.”

What inspires you? “When people say ‘Don't give up.’”

What three things can’t you live without? My stuffed teddy bear (Freddy), Name That Book awards and my family pictures.

What are you most looking forward to this year? “I am looking forward to making good grades my fifth-grade year and making the world a better place through Student Council.
