CFISD Student of the Week: Nicholas Nunez

April 23, 2018—Woodard Elementary School fifth-grade student Nicholas Nunez is a straight-A student who teachers say goes above and beyond to help and assist not only his teachers, but others on campus and his fellow students – Nunez serves as a peer tutor every Wednesday before school.

Accomplishments: Nunez excels not only is his studies, as shown by making straight A’s, but also in his willingness to work with and help others. He’s a peer tutor, working every Wednesday before school to help his fellow students with math, and has shown patience and support and assisting. In addition, teachers say Nunez goes above and beyond to help all Woodard staff members.

Favorite class: “Math is really fun. I enjoy doing all of the equations and I also enjoy my math teacher, Mrs. Jenny Lisk.”

Favorite things to do after class: “Playing PlayStation 4 with my best friends, basketball and going to my friends’ houses to hang out in person.”

Favorite song: God’s Plan by Drake.

Favorite website: “ because it is related to math and it is like Pokemon, which I also love.”

Favorite TV show: “Fresh Off the Boat because the family is really funny and they get along sometimes.”

Favorite movie: “Black Panther because I am a huge Marvel fan. The siblings also have a funny bond.”

Ambition: “A professional basketball player. I have been watching basketball games and training to become better. I want to be like Michael Jordan.”

What topics/things are you passionate about?: “Basketball, gamer and getting nominated for the Sadie Woodard Imprint Award.”

Who inspires you?: “Michael Jordan because he is the best basketball player ever and Ali A. because he is a great gamer.”

What three things can’t you live without?: “My three things I can’t live without are my family, basketball and my friends.”

What are you most looking forward to this semester?: “Passing my STAAR test, getting all A’s and hopefully being nominated for the Sadie Woodard award.”
