CFISD students named winners in House District 132 Art Contest

Feb. 12, 2019—Students from Hopper, Salyards and Thornton middle schools were named winners in the House District 132 Student Art Contest and will have their pieces displayed in State Rep. Gina Calanni’s office at the Texas State Capitol and the district’s office in Katy.

After receiving a number of excellent pieces of artwork, the district, which serves CFISD and Katy and Waller school districts, expanded the selection of winners from four in two categories to eight. CFISD placed two winners in each category (Capitol Artwork and School Mascot Artwork).

“We were very impressed with the talent of the students and would like to thank each participant and school for the work that went into creating the art pieces,” District Director Kaycee Kube said in a letter to the winning schools.

Capitol Artwork
Salyards Middle School eighth-grade student Paxton Hendricks was among four CFISD students to have their artwork recently named a winner in the House District 132 Student Art Contest.
