Sept. 30, 2011— The Cypress-Fairbanks ISD website, www.cfisd.net, was given a grade of A+ by the Sunshine Review, a pro-transparency nonprofit seeking to empower citizens by bringing state and local government information to light.
Using a 10-point transparency checklist to assign a grade based upon the proactive disclosure of financial data, contact information and lobbying activity, Sunshine Review analyzed and graded the transparency of Texas' government websites—including sites for the five largest counties, five largest cities and 10 largest school districts.
According to Superintendent Dr. Mark Henry, “Providing our public with accurate up-to-date information about all aspects of the district and its operations builds trust and support. It doesn't surprise me that there is a correlation between the tremendous support that we receive from the Cy-Fair community and our robust, content-rich website that is accessed 24/7.”
The State of Texas website earned a B- grade, the five largest counties averaged a B and the five largest cities earned a B+ mark. The 10 largest school districts earned a B- average.
Sunshine Review cited the following factors that went into CFISD’s A+ rating:
Only one other Texas school district, McKinney ISD, received an A+ score.
