CFISD’s 3 remaining baseball teams advance to regional quarterfinals

May 14, 2018—Three CFISD baseball teams advanced past the area round of the Class 6A playoffs and move on to the regional quarterfinals, which will include an all-CFISD matchup.

Cy-Fair High School swept Katy Seven Lakes in a best-of-three series by the scores of 3-2 and 4-3. The Bobcats advance to face Cypress Woods High School, which beat Fort Bend Travis in a best-of-three series by the scores of 5-4, 2-12 and 5-3.

Cullen Sherrill’s game-winning single lifted Cypress Woods High School to an opening-game win May 10 over Fort Bend Travis in their best-of-three series in the area round. The Wildcats beat Travis and advanced to the Class 6A regional quarterfinals where they will face Cy-Fair High School.

The two CFISD schools will meet in a best-of-three series with all games at Langham Creek High School (17610 FM 529):

  • Game 1 will be at 7:30 p.m. on May 17;
  • Game 2 will be 7:30 p.m. on May 18; and
  • Game 3, if necessary, will be at 11 a.m. on May 19.

Cypress Ranch High School swept Fort Bend Ridge Point in a best-of-three series by the scores of 7-0 and 10-0. The Mustangs advance to face Katy Tompkins regional quarterfinal series:

  • Game 1 will be at 7:30 p.m. on May 17 at Katy Tompkins (4400 Falcon Landing Blvd.);
  • Game 2 will be at 7:30 p.m. on May 18 at Cypress Ranch (10700 Fry Road); and
  • Game 3, if necessary, will be at noon on May 19 at Katy High School (6331 Highway Blvd.).

Cypress Ranch High School senior Ty Madden struck out 11 in leading the Mustangs to a win May 10 over Fort Bend Ridge Point to open their series in the area round. The Mustangs swept Ridge Point and advance to face Katy Tompkins in the regional quarterfinals.

Tickets for all playoffs games will be sold at the gate for $5 each (adults and students).
