Class of 2020 graduates appointed to U.S. service academies

Cypress Ranch High School graduate Shadiya Thomas was appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.

June 11, 2020—Three CFISD graduates from the Class of 2020 have received appointments to attend United States service academies.

Cypress Falls High School graduate Jayden Goodwin was appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.

“We are so proud of Jayden and can’t wait to see all that is in store for him,” said Becky Denton, Cypress Falls principal. “He is one special young man."

Cypress Ranch High School graduate Shadiya Thomas was also appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy.

“Cypress Ranch High School is proud of Shadiya and congratulates her on her appointment to the United States Air Force Academy,” said Mike Maness, Cypress Ranch principal. “We would like to thank Shadiya for her service to our country and know that she will continue to excel in her future endeavors.”

Cypress Woods High School graduate Garrett Braunton was also appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy.

Cypress Woods High School graduate Garrett Braunton was appointed to the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.

“On behalf of the entire staff at Cypress Woods High School that has had the opportunity to be a part of Garrett’s academic career, we want to express our utmost congratulations on this outstanding accomplishment,” said Gary Kinninger, Cypress Woods principal. “To receive an appointment to one of the finest military academies in the United States reflects Garrett’s drive and determination to stand out amongst the best of the best.”
