The Cypress Lakes High School boys’ basketball team celebrates its District 14-6A championship and No. 1 seed going into the postseason. The Spartans will travel to Round Rock Westwood and face the Warriors at 7 p.m. on Feb. 25.
Feb. 24, 2020—The District 14-6A and District 17-6A boys’ basketball seasons wrapped up Feb. 18 with seven of the 12 CFISD teams qualifying for the UIL playoffs.
Cypress Lakes High School won the outright championship in 14-6A for the 2019-2020 season with a 13-4 record in district play. The title is the first since 2016 for the Spartans. They finished one game ahead of Cypress Woods, Cypress Park and Langham Creek high schools, which all finished with 12-4 marks in league games. Cypress Woods earned the second seed, while Cypress Park defeated Langham Creek in a seeding game Feb. 21 to enter the postseason as the third seed.
The Cypress Park and Langham Creek boys’ basketball teams both qualified for the UIL postseason. The Tigers earned the third seed in District 14-6A and will matchup against Pflugerville Hendrickson at 7 p.m. on Feb. 25 at Giddings High School. The Lobos are the fourth seed in 14-6A and will travel to Leander Vandegrift and face the Vipers at 7 p.m. on Feb. 25.
The four teams will enter the UIL Region II-6A playoffs with the following bi-district matchups:
Tickets for 14-6A playoff games will be sold at the gate for $5 for adults and $3 for students.
The Cy-Fair High School boys’ basketball team celebrates its District 17-6A co-championship. The Bobcats enter the postseason as the second seed and will face Houston Lamar at 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 25 at Houston ISD’s Delmar Fieldhouse.
In 17-6A, Cy-Fair High School earned a share of the district championship for the 2019-2020 season with Spring Branch ISD’s Memorial High School. Both finished 14-2 in league games. The title is the first for the Bobcats since 1990 and they will enter the playoffs as the second seed. Cypress Creek High School went 13-2 to earn the third seed, while Jersey Village High School earned the fourth seed after going 11-5 in district play.
The Cypress Creek and Jersey Village boys’ basketball teams both qualified for the UIL playoffs. The Cougars earned the third seed in District 17-6A and will face Houston Sam Houston at 7 p.m. on Feb. 25 at Aldine ISD’s Campbell Center. The Falcons will be the fourth seed in 17-6A and meet Houston Bellaire at 7 p.m. on Feb. 24 at Cypress Ridge High School.
The three teams will enter the UIL Region III-6A playoffs with the following bi-district matchups:

Cypress Woods High School junior Damian Watson and the Wildcats’ basketball team earned the second seed in District 14-6A. They will face Leander to open the postseason at 7 p.m. on Feb. 24 at Giddings High School.
