Cy-Fair High School junior Peyton Chatagnier returns to the University of Houston’s Schroeder Park after beating Clear Springs in the Class 6A regional semifinals. The Bobcats rallied to win the series and advance to an all-CFISD regional final against Cypress Ranch High School. The two start a best-of-three series May 31, with the winner advancing to the UIL State Tournament.
May 29, 2018—The Cy-Fair and Cypress Ranch high school baseball teams both rallied to advance past the regional semifinal round of the Class 6A playoffs, setting up an all-CFISD regional final with the winner qualifying for the UIL State Tournament.
This will mark the second time during the 2017-2018 school year in which the final two teams standing in a particular postseason regional bracket were both from CFISD. On the way to its Class 6A Division II football state championship, Cy-Fair faced Langham Creek High School on Dec. 9 at Cy-Fair FCU Stadium for the regional championship and state semifinal berth.
Both baseball regional semifinal series went the distance, with both Cy-Fair and Cypress Ranch rallying after dropping their respective series openers.
Cy-Fair beat Clear Springs in a best-of-three series by the scores of 1-2, 8-3 and 5-3 at the University of Houston’s Schroeder Park.
Cypress Ranch High School senior Colton Cowser helped lead the Mustangs to a best-of-three series win over Atascocita in the Class 6A regional semifinals. They advance to face district foe Cy-Fair in the regional finals, with the series to be played at the University of Houston’s Schroeder Park beginning May 31.
Cypress Ranch beat Atascocita in a best-of-three series by the scores of 2-5, 10-7 and 9-4 at the Crosby ISD Baseball and Softball Complex.
Both the Bobcats and Mustangs now advance to an all-CFISD regional final with all games at the University of Houston’s Schroeder Park (3100 Cullen Blvd.):
Tickets will be sold at the gate, with the prices being $8 for adults and $5 for students.
