April 9, 2018—The Cy-Fair High School girls’ golf team won the team championship with a two-day score of 717 (365-352) at the District 17-6A Golf Tournament, held April 4 and April 6 at Cypress Lakes Golf Club. The title was the program’s fourth in five years.

The Bobcats qualified for the Region III-6A Golf Tournament, set for April 24-25 at Eagle Pointe Golf Club (12450 Eagle Pointe Drive) in Mont Belvieu. The five golfers who comprised the winning total were Grace Ni (75-74–149), Maddie Kreiger (90-88–178), Neha Dewan (96-86–182), Shubhi Dhanuka (104-104–208) and Sara Khon (144-140–284).

Three of the Bobcats finished among the top 10 in the first-place victory, led by Ni winning the 17-6A individual championship. Kreiger placed sixth overall and Dewan finished eighth.

“We had to battle this year through injuries so we kind of struggled a little,” said Donna Benotti, Cy-Fair head girls’ golf coach. “We needed our Nos. 2, 3 and 4 players to really step up their games and be able to help and they really did so. They dropped their scores from the high 90s down into mid 80s and did a great job with that.”
