On the boys’ side, Cy-Fair freshman Thomas Pickrell (77-70–147) and Jersey Village High School junior Max Martinez (80-74–154) earned the medalist spots at the District 17-6A Boys’ Golf Tournament, held April 1-2 at Cypress Lakes Golf Club.

All qualifying teams and medalists advance to the Region III-6A Golf Tournament at Eagle Pointe Golf Club (12450 Eagle Pointe Drive) in Mont Belvieu. The boys’ tournament is set for April 22-23, while the girls’ tournament is set for April 24-25.

“The new district alignment proved to be outstanding competition in golf with Memorial Stratford,” said Donna Benotti, Cy-Fair head girls’ golf coach. “The girls were behind with a very disappointing 10-stroke deficit after day one. On day two, the girls battled with our ‘BFND’ spirit, with one taking an enormous hit to the head with a ball. That did not stop the Bobcats from fighting to the end and posting top scores to take a spot to regionals.”

Spring Branch ISD’s Memorial High School (296-289–585) won the district title. Memorial’s Catherine Lee and Cypress Creek High School freshman Natalie Peebles (81-79–160) earned the two medalist spots after placing sixth and seventh individually.
