Feb. 25, 2018—The Cypress Falls High School boys’ basketball team won its Region III-6A area round playoff game and advanced to the regional quarterfinals, while Cypress Springs High School ended its season in the second round of the playoffs.

Cypress Falls defeated Fort Bend Hightower, 62-45, on Feb. 23 at Coleman Coliseum. The Eagles advance and will face Houston Sam Houston at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at Houston ISD’s Delmar Fieldhouse (2020 Magnum Road).

Tickets will be sold at the gate for $5 apiece (students and adults).

“This is a highly anticipated matchup between these two schools and we will need all of the support that we can get,” said Ray Zepeda, CFISD director of athletics. “Please get out there and support our Golden Eagles as they work to reach the regional tournament.”

Cypress Springs was defeated by Katy Tompkins, 53-51, on Feb. 22 at Cinco Ranch High School in Katy. The Panthers end their season as District 17-6A co-runners-up and area-round finalists.

“Cy Springs lost a heartbreaking game to a very talented Katy Tompkins team,” Zepeda said. “The Panthers played an unbelievable game and have a lot to be proud of. We appreciate Coach (Sam) Benitez and the job that he and his staff did with this group this year.”
