Cy Ranch boys’, Cy Woods girls’ soccer teams advance to 3rd round

April 4, 2018—The Cypress Ranch High School boys’ and Cypress Woods High School girls’ soccer teams won their Region III-6A area-round playoff matches and advanced to the regional quarterfinals.

Cypress Ranch shut out Katy Seven Lakes, 1-0, on April 3 at Katy Tompkins High School. The Mustangs advance to face Tompkins at 7 p.m. Friday, April 6, at Tomball Memorial High School (19100 Northpointe Ridge Lane).

Cypress Woods beat Fort Bend Ridge Point, 2-1, on April 3 at Katy ISD’s Legacy Stadium. The Wildcats advance to the regional quarterfinals to meet Tompkins at 7 p.m. Friday, April 6, at Cypress Falls High School (9811 Huffmeister Road).

Cypress Ranch High School senior Reis Fredrickson and the Mustangs advanced to the Region III-6A quarterfinals following a 1-0 win over Katy Seven Lakes on April 3 at Katy Tompkins High School. The Mustangs will meet Tompkins in the regional quarterfinals.

Tickets for both games will be sold at the gate for $5 apiece (students and adults).

CFISD’s five other soccer playoff contenders were eliminated from the postseason:

  • the Langham Creek boys lost to Houston Strake Jesuit, 3-0, on April 2 at Strake Jesuit College Preparatory School. The Lobos end the season as District 17-6A champions and area playoff finalists;
  • the Cypress Ridge boys lost to Tompkins, 2-1, on April 3 at Cypress Ridge. The Rams end the season as District 17-6A runners-up and area finalists;
  • the Cypress Lakes boys lost to Katy Cinco Ranch, 3-1, on April 3 at Legacy Stadium, ending their season as fourth-place district finishers and area finalists;
  • the Cypress Ranch girls lost to Fort Bend Clements, 4-4 (Cypress Ranch lost in the second set of penalty kicks), on April 3 at Katy ISD’s Rhodes Stadium, finishing the year as District 17-6A runners-up and area finalists; and
  • the Cy-Fair girls lost to Cinco Ranch, 7-0, on April 2 at Cinco Ranch High School. The Bobcats finish the season as third-place district finishers and area finalists.
