Cy Woods, Cy Creek win softball district titles; six teams enter playoffs

Cypress Woods High School sophomore Halee Vance and the Wildcats won the District 16-6A championship with a 13-1 district record. Cypress Woods will face Klein Oak in a best-of-three series beginning April 30 at Klein Oak High School. April 28, 2021—The District 16-6A and District 17-6A softball seasons ended on April 24 with six CFISD teams qualifying for the UIL playoffs.

Cypress Woods High School won the District 16-6A championship for the 2020 season with a 13-1 record in district play. Bridgeland High School placed second with a 12-2 district record and Cypress Ranch High School finished third with an 11-3 record. Langham Creek High School went 8-6 to finish fourth.

The following District 16-6A teams will enter the UIL Region II-6A playoffs with the following bi-district matchups:

·Cypress Woods vs. Klein Oak:

       o   Game 1 – 5:30 p.m. on April 29 at Klein Oak High School (22603 Northcrest Drive);

       o   Game 2 – 12 p.m. on May 1 at Cypress Woods High School (13550 Woods-Spillane Blvd.);

       o   Game 3, if necessary – 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 2;

·Bridgeland will face Klein Cain at 6:30 p.m. on April 30 at Cypress Creek High School (9815 Grand Road);

·Cypress Ranch will face Klein Collins at 6 p.m. on April 29 at Tomball Memorial High School (19100 Northpointe Ridge Lane);

·Langham Creek vs. Klein

      o   Game 1 – 5 p.m. on April 29 at Langham Creek High School (17610 FM 529);

      o   Game 2 – 6 p.m. on April 30 at Klein High School (16715 Stuebner Airline Road); and

      o   Game 3, if necessary – noon on May 1 at Bridgeland High School (10707 Mason Road).

Cypress Creek High School won the District 17-6A championship for the 2020 season with an undefeated 14-0 record in district play. Cy-Fair High School went 12-2 to finish second.

The following District 16-6A teams will enter the UIL Region III-6A playoffs with the following bi-district matchups:

·Cypress Creek will face Houston Westside at 6 p.m. on April 29 at Cypress Ridge High School (7900 N. Eldridge Parkway); and

·Cy-Fair will face Houston Lamar at 7 p.m. on April 30 at Butler Stadium (13755 S. Main St.).

All tickets for games hosted by Klein ISD, Tomball ISD and Houston ISD will be $5 apiece (adults and students) and will be sold online. Tickets for all remaining games will be $5 apiece (adults and students) and sold at the gate.
