Oct. 9, 2020—Cypress Woods High School Girls’ Head Soccer Coach Amy Trocquet was named the Texas recipient of the 2020 United Soccer Coaches High School Coach of Significance Award.

Trocquet was nominated by a fellow coach outside of CFISD. After being nominated, Cypress Woods administration and former players submitted letters of recommendation. Each nominee was reviewed by the selection committee comprised of national, regional and state representatives.

“I really feel like these amazing words from my Wildcat family and former players are what ‘won’ me the award,” Trocquet said. “Honestly, hearing those things and being able to know I made an impact on my players’ lives means more to me than any award I could ever receive. I am truly honored to receive this award because it recognizes what is most important in the role of a coach—to teach these girls life lessons through the beautiful game we all love.”

The award recognizes members of United Soccer who are coaching for character and using the field to teach life lessons. It is an opportunity for each state, in conjunction with United Soccer coaches, to recognize coaches who are making an impact within their schools and communities beyond their wins and loss totals.

“We have always known that Coach Trocquet is a coach of great significance,” said Ray Zepeda, CFISD athletic director. “It is very gratifying to see her be publicly recognized for her great work and power of her positive influence. We are very proud of her and celebrate with her on being named a High School Coach of Significance by the United Soccer Coaches.”
