Cypress Creek High School sophomore Rori Harmon and the Cougars advanced to the Region III-6A tournament for the second year in a row. They defeated Katy 71-41 to advance and will face Humble Summer Creek in the regional semifinals on Feb. 22 at the Merrell Center in Katy.
Feb. 20, 2019—The Cypress Creek High School girls’ basketball team will return to the Regional III-6A tournament for a second year in a row, while Cypress Ranch and Jersey Village high schools saw their seasons end in the regional quarterfinals.
Cypress Creek defeated Katy 71-41 on Feb. 19, sending the Cougars to the regional semifinals. They will face Humble Summer Creek at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 22, at the Merrell Center (6301 S. Stadium Lane) in Katy. The winner will face the winner of Houston Westside and Humble Atascocita at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23, back at the Merrell Center for the regional championship and berth in the UIL state tournament.
Cypress Creek is aiming for a second consecutive trip to the state tournament. The Cougars knocked off both Atascocita and Summer Creek in the regional tournament in 2018 on the way to state.
Tickets will be sold at the gate for $8 apiece (students and adults).
Cypress Ranch was defeated by Pflugerville Hendrickson 56-41. The Mustangs finished as District 14-6A champions and regional quarterfinalists.
Jersey Village was defeated by Houston Westside 58-56. The Falcons finished as District 17-6A champions and regional quarterfinalists.
