Education Resource Group gives CFISD top-two state ranking

March 25, 2015

March 25, 2015—The Education Resource Group (ERG), a data-driven company that provides accountability and performance management optimization for public schools, has for the third consecutive year rated Cypress-Fairbanks ISD in the top two among the 200 largest districts in Texas for academic and financial performance in its 2013-2014 Best Practice Awards.

The rating, which was released on March 19, follows two consecutive No. 1 productivity rankings in the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 Best Practice Awards. Only Richardson ISD received a higher “District Productivity Index” rating for 2013-2014.

The Productivity rating measures academic achievement, performances and operating efficiency based on all funded expenditures for instruction, leadership, student support services and non-student support services.

“With the support of our Board of Trustees, Cypress-Fairbanks is committed to providing a quality education for more than 113,000 students in a fiscally responsible manner,” said Dr. Mark Henry, superintendent of schools. “We are proud of another high ranking by the ERG, which attests to the success of these efforts.”

Paul Haeberlen, ERG chief operating officer, praised CFISD for its top-tier productivity rating.

“Being ranked so high in productivity is important to your organization because it is showing that you are getting the most out of the resources you are given,” Haeberlen said. “If I hear other districts say to us, ‘The reason we’re not doing well is we don’t have enough money,’ we say, ‘Go talk to Cy-Fair.’ Cy-Fair has set the model for how to improve academic outcomes and maintain financial efficiency.”
