Eight schools emerge from district One-Act Play zone competitions

One-Act Play 1: The Cypress Ridge High School production of The Book of Everything by Richard Tulloch advanced from the University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 17-6A One-Act Play zone competition. Cypress Ridge joined Cypress Creek, Cypress Falls and Jersey Village high schools in advancing to the final 17-6A competition, which is scheduled for March 19 at Spring Branch ISD’s Memorial High School.
The Cypress Ridge High School production of The Book of Everything by Richard Tulloch advanced from the University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 17-6A One-Act Play zone competition. Cypress Ridge joined Cypress Creek, Cypress Falls and Jersey Village high schools in advancing to the final 17-6A competition, which is scheduled for March 19 at Spring Branch ISD’s Memorial High School.

March 18, 2019—Eight high school productions advanced from the University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 14-6A and District 17-6A One-Act Play zone competitions on March 7-8 to the final district competitions, which are scheduled for March 19. The 14-6A competition will be at the Berry Center (8877 Barker Cypress Road), while the 17-6A competition will be at Spring Branch ISD’s Memorial High School (935 Echo Lane).

The following 14-6A schools advanced from zone competition:

  • Bridgeland: The Kentucky Cycle: Fire in the Hole by Robert Schenkkan;
  • Cypress Ranch: Equus by Peter Shaffer;
  • Cypress Woods: Oslo by J.T. Rogers; and
  • Langham Creek: Silent Sky by Lauren Gunderson.

The following 17-6A schools advanced from zone competition:

  • Cypress Creek: Marie Antoinette by David Adjmi;
  • Cypress Falls: Let the Right One In by Jack Thorne;
  • Cypress Ridge: The Book of Everything by Richard Tulloch; and
  • Jersey Village: Where Words Once Were by Finegan Kruckemeyer.

The District 14-6A One-Act Play finals will start at 3 p.m. on March 19 at the Berry Center. The District 17-6A One-Act Play finals will start at 3 p.m. at Spring Branch ISD’s Memorial High School.

Bridgeland joined Cypress Ranch, Cypress Woods and Langham Creek high schools in advancing to the final 14-6A competition, which is scheduled for March 19 at the Berry Center.

Tickets are $10 apiece and must be purchased at the door.

Plays in the 14-6A finals will begin at the top of each hour in the following order:

  • Cypress Woods;
  • Bridgeland;
  • Tomball Memorial;
  • Cypress Ranch;
  • Bryan; and
  • Langham Creek.

Plays in the 17-6A finals will begin at the top of each hour in the following order:

  • Stratford;
  • Memorial;
  • Jersey Village;
  • Cypress Falls;
  • Cypress Creek; and
  • Cypress Ridge.
