FCCLA students win awards at regional competition

March 7, 2017—Students from four CFISD high schools brought home awards from the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) regional competition in Galveston, Feb. 16-18.

FCCLA is one of the largest student-run organizations nationwide.

Students from Jersey Village, Langham Creek, Cypress Lakes and Cypress Springs high schools won awards at the FCCLA regional competition Feb. 16-18 in Galveston.

The following students earned awards at the competition:

Jersey Village High School

  • Jessica Galera and Victoria Martinez, seniors; and Shelby Klentz, junior – second place, Chapter Service Portfolio (Volunteering with a Purpose);
  • Amanda Le, senior – second place, Early Childhood Education (Five Sense); and
  • Joselin Gonzalez and Mercedes Camarillo, seniors – third place, Chapter Service Display (Little Hands Big Heart).

Langham Creek High School

  • Erin Harrell and Priscila Valdes, seniors; and Iran Gonzalez, junior – first place, Chapter Service Project Display (12 Days of Christmas Kindness); and
  • Ericka Avila, senior – third place, Early Childhood Project.

Cypress Lakes High School

  • Brentney Robinson, senior – fourth place, Early Childhood Event; and
  • Tamara Dortch, senior;and Kiera Odor, junior – fourth place, Focus on Children (Diabetes).

Cypress Springs High School

  • Kaitlen Del Rio and Clara Gomez, seniors – fifth place, Focus on Children (Eating the Alphabet).
