Nov. 6, 2019—With 100 percent of voting centers reporting unofficial results from the Nov. 5 election for four seats on the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District Board of Trustees indicate that Tom Jackson was elected to Position 1, Julie Hinaman was elected to Position 2, Gilbert Sarabia was elected to Position 3 and Debbie Blackshear was elected to Position 4.
For the Position 1 seat, Jackson received 30,658 votes in an uncontested race. A trustee since 2011, Jackson will begin his third term of service to the district.
For the Position 2 seat, Hinaman received 31,217 votes in an uncontested race. Named a trustee in June, Hinaman will begin her first full term of service to the district.
For the Position 3 seat, Sarabia received 12,282 votes (35.86 percent) over opponents Natalie Blasingame, who drew 11,507 votes (33.60 percent) and Ryan Irving Jr., who drew 10,457 votes (30.53 percent). Sarabia will begin his first term of service to the district.
For the Position 4 seat, Blackshear received 31,974 in an uncontested race. A trustee since 2015, Blackshear will begin her second term of service to the district.
Overall, the election drew 30,658 votes for Position 1, 31,217 votes for Position 2, 34,246 votes for Position 3 and 31,974 votes for Position 4. Early voting accounted for 30.4, 30.3, 30.7 and 30.4 percent of the ballots cast in each of the four respective races. Of the 322,790 registered voters within CFISD, 13.44 percent cast ballots in the election.
Official results from Tuesday’s election will be canvassed and announced during the Monday, Nov. 18 special-called Board of Trustees meeting. The elected candidates to Positions 1, 2, 3 and 4 will be sworn in during the Dec. 12 work session to serve four-year terms.
