Houston Methodist Cy-Hoops Invitational bracket released

Beaumont Ozen and Dallas Kimball clashed in the 2014 Cypress Hoops Invitational. Both Ozen, the defending champion, and runner-up Kimball will appear in this year’s tournament. 

Nov. 30, 2015—CFISD basketball coaches have released the finalized bracket for the sixth annual Houston Methodist Cy-Hoops Invitational, to be held Dec. 10-12 at three CFISD high schools and the Berry Center.

The three-day, 24-team tournament will be played at the following locations:

  • Cypress Woods High School (13550 Woods Spillane Blvd.);
  • Cy-Fair High School (22602 Northwest Freeway);
  • Langham Creek High School (17610 FM 529); and
  • the Berry Center arena (8877 Barker Cypress Road – entrance 2).

The complete bracket is available on the Athletics page of the CFISD website. The following first-round games are set for Thursday, Dec. 10:

4:30 p.m.

  • Cypress Woods vs. Beaumont Ozen, Cypress Woods gym 1;
  • South Grand Prairie vs Texas City, Cypress Woods gym 2;
  • Cypress Lakes vs. Alief Hastings, Cy-Fair gym 1;
  • Humble Summer Creek vs. Aldine Nimitz, Cy-Fair gym 2;
  • Killeen Shoemaker vs. Jersey Village, Langham Creek gym 1; and
  • Schertz Clemens vs. Cypress Springs, Langham Creek gym 2.

6 p.m.

  • Harker Heights vs. Cypress Ridge, Cypress Woods gym 1;
  • Cypress Ranch vs. Alief Elsik, Cypress Woods gym 2;
  • Dallas Kimball vs. Cy-Fair, Cy-Fair gym 1;
  • Spring DeKaney vs. Cypress Falls, Cy-Fair gym 2;
  • Langham Creek vs. Spring, Langham Creek gym 1; and
  • North Shore vs. Cypress Creek, Langham Creek gym 2.

Thursday’s winners will play throughout the day on Friday, Dec. 11 at the Berry Center.

The tournament will feature family fun activities including a visit from Santa Claus.

Proceeds from the Cypress Hoops Invitational benefit the CFEF, which raises money for student scholarships and staff development grants. The fifth annual tournament raised almost $25,000.

Tickets will be sold at the gate for $2 (students) and $3 (adults), with a family fun pass granting access to all games for $8.
