May 25, 2018—Jersey Village High School senior Antoine Joubran was selected to the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) All-State Academic Excellence Team, an honor based on standardized test scores, writing skills and other evidence of exceptional academic ability.
Students are nominated by their high school principals and asked to write a 300- to 500-word essay as part of the application process for the TASSP Academic Excellence Recognition Program.
The top 20 are chosen for the excellence team, while the next 30 are selected as finalists.
“Joubran was nominated for this honor because he has achieved an excellent academic record while attending JVHS,” Jersey Village Principal Ralph Funk said. “He has established high expectations for himself and has reached these standards. Joubran exemplifies the type of student we seek to honor at JVHS and through TASSP.”
Said Joubran: “I am grateful to Mr. Funk for giving me the opportunity to excel academically and to receive recognition for my hard work throughout high school.”
During his time at Jersey Village, Joubran concentrated on math and science and his great efforts in these subjects got him selected for this prestigious program. He will be awarded a $500 scholarship and be formally recognized at the TASSP Summer Workshop on June 14 in Austin.
“I have worked very hard to be able to perform at my best academically and my test scores reflect this effort,” Joubran said.
