Langham Creek boys’, Cy Woods girls’ soccer teams reach 3rd round

April 4, 2019—The Langham Creek High School boys’ and Cypress Woods High School girls’ soccer teams won their Region II-6A area-round playoff matches and advanced to the regional quarterfinals.

Langham Creek defeated Aldine Nimitz, 3-1, on April 2 at Langham Creek High School. The Lobos advance to face Aldine at 7 p.m. Friday, April 5, at Houston ISD’s Delmar Stadium (2020 Mangum Rd.).

Cypress Woods shut out Klein Oak, 1-0, on April 2 at Tomball ISD Stadium. The Wildcats advance to face Austin Vandegrift at 8 p.m. Friday, April 5, at Bastrop ISD’s Memorial Stadium (755 State Highway 21) in Cedar Creek.

Tickets for both games will be sold at the gate for $5 for adults and $3 for students.

CFISD’s five other soccer playoff contenders were eliminated from the postseason:

The Cypress Ranch High School boys were defeated by The Woodlands College Park, 1-0, on April 2 at Magnolia High School, ending their season as District 14-6A champions and area playoff finalists;

The Cypress Lakes High School boys lost to Aldine, 0-0 (Cypress Lakes lost in penalty kicks), on April 2 at Aldine ISD’s Thorne Stadium. The Spartans end the season as District 14-6A runners-up and area finalists;

The Cypress Ridge High School boys fell to Katy Mayde Creek, 2-1, on April 2 at Pridgeon Stadium. The Rams ended the season as District 17-6A runners-up and area finalists;

The Jersey Village High School boys were defeated by Katy Seven Lakes, 2-0, on April 2 at Katy’s Legacy Stadium. The Falcons end their season as District 17-6A’s fourth seed and area finalists; and

The Cy-Fair High School girls lost to Fort Bend Ridge Point, 2-2 (Cy-Fair lost in penalty kicks), on April 2 at Katy’s Rhodes Stadium. The Bobcats end their season as District 17-6A runners-up and area finalists.

Cypress Ridge High School senior Ismael Chavez (No. 10) and the Rams were among seven CFISD soccer teams to reach the area round of the postseason. They finished their season as District 17-6A runners-up.
