Middle School One-Act Play Contest set for Nov. 8-10 at the Berry Center

Oct. 31, 2018—The CFISD Middle School One-Act Play Contest will be held Nov. 8-10 at the Berry Center (8877 Barker Cypress Road).

The competition will be divided into three zones with each consisting of five or six schools. The Zone I schedule will begin at 1 p.m. on Nov. 8 with the following school’s one-act play performance starting at the top of each hour:

  • Smith Middle School: Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon by D.D. Brooke;
  • Arnold Middle School: Wiley and the Hairy Man by Susan Zeder;
  • Labay Middle School: Lafayette No. 1 by Mandy Conner;
  • Kahla Middle School: Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling; and
  • Cook Middle School: To Burn a Witch by James L. Bray.

The Zone II schedule will begin at 1 p.m. on Nov. 9 with the following school’s performances beginning at the top of each hour:

  • Salyards Middle School: Antigone by Bonnie Roberts;
  • Bleyl Middle School: Defying Gravity by Jane Anderson;
  • Aragon Middle School: Decision Height by Meredith Dayna Levy;
  • Goodson Middle School: Booby Trap by Ed Monk; and
  • Truitt Middle School: Antigone Now by Melissa Cooper.

The Zone III schedule will begin at 1 p.m. on Nov. 10 with the following school’s one-act productions beginning at the top of each hour:

  • Thornton Middle School: Wild Strawberries by Jerry Ayers;
  • Hopper Middle School: The Lottery by Brainerd Duffield;
  • Hamilton Middle School: Antigone, 1865 by Mike Willis;
  • Spillane Middle School: A Little Princess by R.N. Sandberg;
  • Anthony Middle School: Cobweb Dreams by Lindsay Price; and
  • Watkins Middle School: Wendy’s Tale by Alan Haehnel.

Tickets can be purchased at the door for $5 each. Admission is free for all district employees with ID.
