Nine schools advance past District One-Act Play zone competitions

The Cypress Woods High School production of The Importance of Being Earnest advanced past the District 14-6A UIL One-Act Play zone competitions. Cypress Woods joined Bridgeland, Cypress Ranch, Cypress Springs and Cypress Lakes high schools in advancing to the final District 14-6A competition, scheduled for March 17 at the Berry Center.

March 4, 2020—Nine CFISD high school productions advanced past the UIL District 14-6A and District 17-6A One-Act Play zone competitions to the final district competitions, scheduled for March 4 and March 17 at the Berry Center (8877 Barker Cypress Road).

The following productions advanced from the District 14-6A zone competitions:

·The Importance of Being Earnest – Cypress Woods High School;

·American Slingo – Bridgeland High School;

·Intimate Apparel – Cypress Springs High School;

·Alice in Wonderland – Cypress Ranch High School; and

·The Importance of Being Earnest – Cypress Lakes High School.

The Cypress Ridge High School production of Mockingbird advanced past the District 17-6A UIL One-Act Play zone competitions. Cypress Ridge joined Jersey Village, Cypress Creek and Cypress Falls high schools in advancing to the final District 17-6A competition, scheduled for March 4 at the Berry Center.

The following productions advanced from the District 17-6A zone competitions:

·The Legend of Sleepy Hollow – Jersey Village High School;

·A Lie of the Mind ­– Cypress Creek High School;

·Mockingbird ­– Cypress Ridge High School; and

·Epic Proportions – Cypress Falls High School.

The District 17-6A One-Act Play finals will start at 3 p.m. on March 4 at the Berry Center. The District 14-6A One-Act Play finals will start at 3 p.m. on March 17 at the Berry Center.

Plays in the District 17-6A finals will begin at the top of each hour in the following order: Jersey Village, Cypress Ridge, Cypress Creek, Cypress Falls, Memorial and Stratford.

Plays in the District 14-6A finals will begin at the top of each hour in the following order: Tomball Memorial, Cypress Woods, Cypress Springs, Bridgeland, Cypress Ranch and Cypress Lakes.

Tickets are $10 apiece and must be purchased at the door. Admission is free to all CFISD, Tomball ISD and Spring Branch ISD employees with District ID. No one may enter or exit the theater after a play begins.
