Playoffs continue for two boys’ basketball teams

Senior Miles Simms and the Cypress Ranch Mustangs will face Sam Houston in the regional quarterfinals. 

Feb. 29, 2016—Two boys’ basketball teams won their Region III-6A area playoff games to advance to the quarterfinal round this week, while one boys’ and one girls’ team ended their respective seasons.

The Cypress Ranch Mustangs defeated Cinco Ranch, 64-61, on Feb. 26 at Langham Creek High School. The Mustangs advance to face Sam Houston on Monday, Feb. 29 at 7 p.m. at the Campbell Center (1865 Aldine Bender Road) in Aldine.

The Cypress Lakes Spartans eliminated Bellaire, 75-72, on Feb. 26 at Coleman Coliseum. The Spartans will meet Aldine Davis on Tuesday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Berry Center.

Tickets for both games will be sold at the gate for $5 apiece (students and adults).

In other boys’ playoff action, the Cypress Falls Golden Eagles were eliminated by Sam Houston, 80-70, on Feb. 25 at the Campbell Center. The Golden Eagles ended their year as District 17-6A co-runners-up and area finalists.

In the girls’ playoffs, the Cy-Fair Lady Bobcats finished their season in the Region III-6A semifinal round with a 71-70 loss to Clear Springs on Feb. 26 at the Campbell Center. The Lady Bobcats were District 17-6A runners-up and regional semifinalists.
