Six members of the 2019 Wall of Fame class were recognized in the Board Room of the Instructional Support Center on Sept. 30. The honorees are, from left, Corey Cephus, Cypress Ranch High School baseball coach; SMSgt James L. Core III, Cypress Ridge High School AFJROTC instructor; Larry Womack, Friend of Education; Cheryl Strobel, special needs bus attendant; Ana Morin, transportation supervisor; and John Morrison, coordinator of secondary fine arts.
Sept. 30, 2019—Six honorees of distinction were recognized and inducted into the 2019 Wall of Fame for their commitment and contributions to the educational experience of Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. This year’s ceremony marked the 26th anniversary of the Wall of Fame.
Dr. Mark Henry, superintendent of schools, served as master of ceremonies for the annual event, held Sept. 30 in the Board Room of the Instructional Support Center. The Cypress Ridge High School Air Force JROTC color guard welcomed the honorees and guests with a line of honor, while the Cypress Falls High School varsity chamber orchestra performed a musical arrangement.
Five CFISD employees were honored for their professional achievements at the state and national levels, along with a recipient of the Friend of Education award, which is presented to a community member who has made major contributions to enhance the educational experiences of CFISD students.
The Friend of Education award was presented to Larry Womack, retired pastor of Copperfield Church, who is an active member of the CFISD community including serving on CFISD’s Long-Range Planning Committee and as a volunteer at Hairgrove Elementary School.
