“Even as the pandemic takes its toll on many art events, our CFISD visual arts program continues to cultivate emerging young artists,” said Lee Carrier, CFISD visual arts coordinator. “I am honored to share that the quality of art submitted by campuses for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Contest hardly revealed the negative impact of COVID-19. Our art program boosted with innovation as we offered the contest through an online submission and voting process for students and teachers. The number of art submissions from the more than 400 in-person and virtual students revealed that creative expression bears no limits.

Additional well-deserved mention goes to central office art administrative assistant, Victoria Alvarado who helped organize this massive contest, the CFISD rodeo committee, consisting of K-12 art teachers for conducting a two-week-long contest, and the HLSR School Art Contest committee for continuing to provide art students with scholarship opportunities and art awards.”
