Softball postseason begins April 27

April 25, 2017—The District 17-6A softball season concluded on April 21, with four CFISD teams qualifying for the UIL playoffs.

Cypress Ranch High School won the district championship with a 16-1 record, followed by runner-up Cy-Fair High School (14-3). Cypress Lakes High School (12-5) placed third, with Cypress Woods High School (11-6) fourth.

The following Region III-6A bi-district playoff matchups have been established for this week:

  • Cypress Ranch will face Lamar in a one-game playoff on April 27 at 7 p.m. at Cypress Park High School (7425 Westgreen Blvd.);
  • Cy-Fair will meet Westside in a one-game playoff on April 27 at 7 p.m. at Cy-Fair High School (22602 Northwest Freeway);
  • Cypress Lakes will battle Chavez in a best-of-three series:
    • Game 1 is April 27 at 7 p.m. at Barnett Stadium (6800 Fairway Drive) in Houston;
    • Game 2 is April 28 at 7 p.m. at Cypress Lakes High School (5750 Greenhouse Road) in Katy; and
    • Game 3, if necessary, will be April 29 at 2 p.m. at Barnett Stadium; and
  • Cypress Woods will clash with Bellaire in a best-of-three series:
    • Game 1 is April 28 at 7 p.m. at Cypress Woods High School (13550 Woods Spillane Blvd.);
    • Game 2 is April 29 at 12 p.m. at Butler Stadium (13755 Main Street) in Houston; and
    • Game 3, if necessary, will be played 2:00 p.m. and/or 30 min. after.

 Tickets for all playoff games will be sold at the gate for $5 apiece (students and adults).
