Softball postseason continues for 4 CFISD teams in area round

April 29, 2019—Four CFISD softball teams advanced past the bi-district round of the Class 6A playoffs and move on to the area round this week, while Cypress Woods High School concluded its season and finished as a bi-district finalist.

Cypress Ranch High School defeated Leander in a best-of-three series by the scores of 5-3, 4-8 and 8-4. The Mustangs advance to face Conroe The Woodlands in a best-of-three series at Conroe Grand Oaks High School (4800 Riley Fuzzel Road) in Spring:

  • Game 1 – 11 a.m. on May 3 (play suspended in the top of the fourth inning with Cypress Ranch at bat leading 3-0);
  • Game 2 – 3 p.m. on May 3; and
  • Game 3, if necessary – 11 a.m. on May 4.

Bridgeland High School defeated Pflugerville Hendrickson, 7-6, on April 26 at A&M Consolidated High School in College Station. The Bears advance to meet Spring High School in a best-of-three series that will continue at Humble High School (1700 Wilson Road):

  • Game 1 – 7 p.m. on May 1;
  • Game 2 – 4:30 p.m. on May 3 (play suspended in the first inning with Bridgeland leading 2-0); and
  • Game 3, if necessary – May 3 (time to be determined).

Tickets for District 14-6A playoff games will be sold at the gate for $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Cypress Woods High School lost a best-of-three series to Round Rock Cedar Ridge by the scores of 1-11 and 4-6. The Wildcats were District 14-6A’s fourth seed and finished as bi-district finalists.

In Region III-6A, Cypress Creek High School beat Houston Lamar, 12-2, on April 26 at Houston ISD’s Butler Stadium. The Cougars advance to face Fort Bend Ridge Point at 6:30 p.m. on May 1 at Katy Mayde Creek High School (19202 Groeschke Road).

  • Game 1 – 6:30 p.m. on April 30 at Cy-Fair High School (22602 Northwest Freeway);
  • Game 2 – 6:30 p.m. on May 1 at Katy High School (6331 Highway Blvd); and
  • Game 3, if necessary – 6:30 p.m. on May 3 at Katy High School.

Tickets for District 17-6A playoff games will be sold at the gate for $5 (adults and students).
