Student athletic trainers awarded for excellence at GHATS workshop

Jan. 23, 2019—Nine CFISD student athletic trainers from four high schools earned the 2018-2019 Texas State Athletic Trainers’ Association (TSATA) Academic All-State award, with each recognized during the Greater Houston Athletic Trainers’ Society (GHATS) Student Workshop.

A 10th student trainer won during competition at the workshop, held Jan. 19 at Crosby High School. Langham Creek High School junior Riley Gaitan won Student’s Choice in the Poster competition.

CFISD Academic All-State representatives and their schools were presented with certificates at the workshop. Students who earned the recognition met the following requirements:

  • be graduating seniors;
  • possess an overall grade-point average of 92 including grades 9-11 and in the first six weeks of their senior year;
  • be in good standing as athletic training students at the nominating trainer’s high school; and
  • possess good moral character.

  • Penny Bond-Reading, Cy-Fair;
  • Madi Maxwell, Cy-Fair;
  • Maya Simms, Cy-Fair;
  • Alyssa King, Cypress Springs;
  • Trinity DePaulis, Cypress Woods;
  • Rizqa Oresanya, Cypress Woods;
  • Catherine VanHoose, Cypress Woods;
  • Joshua Alexander, Langham Creek; and
  • Allison Vicklund, Langham Creek.
