Three CFISD baseball teams continue postseason in area round

May 7, 2019—Three CFISD baseball teams advanced past the bi-district round of the Class 6A postseason and move on to the area round this week, while Bridgeland and Jersey Village high schools concluded their seasons and finished as bi-district finalists.

Cypress Ranch High School junior Eric Ortiz and the Mustangs advanced to the area round after beating Pflugerville Hendrickson in a best-of-three series. They’ll meet Klein Collins at 1 p.m. on May 10 at Conroe Grand Oaks High School.

Cypress Ranch High School beat Pflugerville Hendrickson in a best-of-three series by the scores of 3-2 and 1-0. The Mustangs advance to face Klein Collins at 1 p.m. on May 10 at Conroe Grand Oaks High School (4800 Riley Fuzzel Road) in Spring.

Cypress Woods High School defeated Round Rock McNeil in a best-of-three series by the scores of 7-0 and 6-5. The Wildcats advance to face Conroe The Woodslands in a best-of-three series at Conroe Grand Oaks High School (4800 Riley Fuzzel Road) in Spring:

  • Game 1 – 1:30 p.m. on May 9;
  • Game 2 – 30 minutes after Game 1; and
  • Game 3, if necessary – 7:30 p.m. on May 10.

Tickets for 14-6A playoff games will be sold at the gate for $5 for adults and $3 for students.

Cy-Fair High School defeated Houston Heights in a best-of-three series by the scores of 2-5, 7-0 and 12-0. The Bobcats advance to face Katy Tompkins in a best-of-three series:

  • Game 1 – 1 p.m. on May 10 at Premier Baseball of Texas (20230 Cypress Rosehill Road) in Tomball;
  • Game 2 – 10 a.m. on May 11 at Anahuac High School (804 Cummings St.); and
  • Game 3, if necessary – 4 p.m. on May 11 at Anahuac High School.

Tickets for 17-6A playoff games will be sold for $5 each (adults and students). At Premier Baseball of Texas, entry is paid upon entering the facility and is $5 per person with a cap of $10 per car.

Bridgeland High School was defeated by Round Rock, 13-2. The Bears were District 14-6A’s fourth seed and finished as bi-district finalists.

Jersey Village High School senior Julian Puga (jumping) and the Falcons finished as bi-district finalists. They were District 17-6A’s fourth seed and were defeated by Houston Lamar in a best-of-three series.

Jersey Village High School was defeated by Houston Lamar in a best-of-three series by the scores of 12-4 and 8-3. The Falcons were District 17-6A’s fourth seed and finished as bi-district finalists.
