Three CFISD graduates appointed to US service academies

June 12, 2019—Three CFISD graduates from the Class of 2019 have received appointments to attend U.S. service academies.

Cypress Woods High School graduate Gage Velzis was appointed to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Port, N.Y.

“Gage will be a great representative to the academy, where he will be trained to become an outstanding officer for the United States Merchant Marine branch of the military,” said Gary Kinninger, Cypress Woods High School principal. “Cypress Woods High School congratulates Gage on his new journey, and we look forward to his future accomplishments during his service to our nation.”

Cypress Ranch High School graduate Alexandra Kemsley was appointed to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Port, N.Y.

Cypress Ranch High School graduate Alexandra Kemsley was also appointed to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

"Cypress Ranch High School is proud of Alexandra and congratulates her on her appointment to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy," said Michael Maness, Cypress Ranch High School principal. "We would like to thank Alexandra for her service to our country and know that she will continue to excel in her future endeavors."

“We at Cy-Fair High School are extremely proud of Graham Lakin and his appointment to the U.S. Air Force Military Academy,” said Ana Martin, Cy-Fair principal. “Graham is well prepared for this task and we appreciate his commitment and dedication to serving our country. Graham’s academic success, his dedication and work ethic has been recognized throughout his time at Cy-Fair High School. We are honored to call Graham a Bobcat and represent the BFND spirit.”
