July 17, 2014—Tickets remain on sale for the CFISD 75th Anniversary Jubilee, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 9 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Berry Center (8877 Barker Cypress Road).
The 75th Anniversary Jubilee will launch the celebration of CFISD’s 75th Anniversary. Sponsored by Caldwell Companies, Cy-Hope and Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital, the event will celebrate 75 honorees who have impacted “Our Children, Our Schools, Our Community”—the 75th Anniversary slogan—throughout the district’s history.
Tickets for the Diamond Jubilee, which is limited to 3,000 guests, will be sold online for $25 apiece. Children 4 and under will be admitted free of charge.
Cocktail attire is suggested for the celebration, which will feature heavy hors d’oeuvres with the theme of favorite school foods turned elegant—including mini corn dogs, fried mac-n-cheese, homemade tomato soup and miniature grilled cheese—as well as a meat carving station.
KPRC Local 2 anchor and reporter Rachel McNeill, a 1992 Cypress Creek High School graduate, will serve as the event emcee. Houston-based performers Cool Freddie E & The Crew will provide the musical entertainment, playing hit songs from each decade of CFISD’s existence. Docents will be staged in historical displays to share information about each decade from the ’40s to the present.
Other festivities include a family photo entertainment area, a booth with hands-on historical technology and a diamond “frosting” station where guests can don themselves with diamond accents.
