Trustee makes 2016 Dean’s Roundtable at TAMU education college

May 5, 2016—CFISD Board of Trustees Vice President Dr. John Ogletree Jr. is among 21 educators who will be recognized by the College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University at the 2016 Dean’s Roundtable on May 6.

Dr. June Scobee Rodgers, Texas A&M University class of 1983 and the widow of Challenger Space Shuttle Commander Richard “Dick” Scobee, will be the keynote speaker for the evening, according to a university press release.

The 2016 Dean’s Roundtable honorees include superintendents, classroom teachers, distinguished professors and other educators who embody the mission of life-long learning and excellence in education.

Dr. Ogletree is serving his fourth term as a Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Board member. He has served as Board president, vice president and secretary. He served on the Board during its 2015 TASA Outstanding School Board award, while the district won the H-E-B Excellence in Education award and during three consecutive top-two state ratings by the Education Resource Group for academic and financial performance.

A graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington, Dr. Ogletree earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from South Texas College of Law and serves as pastor of First Metropolitan Church in Houston.

“I am extremely humbled to be among the 2016 honorees of the College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University,” Dr. Ogletree said. “I love serving the students of Cypress-Fairbanks ISD and working with the other members of the Board and our superintendent. My continued hope is to make a positive impact on our district.”
