Elementary School No. 53 is named after Margie Sue Pope, who retired from CFISD in 2004 after 18 1/2 years with the school district. During her tenure with the district, Pope served as a mentor and role model for numerous campus administrators. She served 5 1/2 years as a director of instruction at Cypress Creek High School, 3 1/2 years as principal of Campbell Middle School, eight years as principal of Cypress Falls High School and 1 1/2 years as an assistant superintendent for secondary school administration.
Prior to coming to CFISD, Pope worked in Klein ISD, Houston ISD, Spring ISD, Tomball ISD and Brazosport ISD as a teacher, assistant principal and principal.
Sue Gratehouse Pope Elementary School is located in the Bridgeland community on an existing site. Designed by VLK Architects, the school opened in August 2013.
The PTO meets on a regular basis. The organization funds cultural arts activities and field trips, organizes volunteers, sponsors various student events, and conducts fund-raisers, which have provided technology, landscaping, books, and playground equipment.
Partnerships with the community are vital in order to strengthen instructional outcomes for all students. We would like you to develop a collaborative relationship with us that will foster long-term student achievement ... one that offers opportunities for all students ... making a difference together.
