Representatives from OfficeMax surprised Lieder Elementary School fifth-grade teacher Janelle Hillen, second from right, on "A Day Made Better."
Oct. 13, 2011— Lieder Elementary School kindergarten teacher Janelle Hillen won a package worth $1,000 in classroom supplies as part of OfficeMax’s "A Day Made Better" campaign on Tuesday.
Representatives from OfficeMax surprised Hillen in her classroom with a bouquet of flowers and informed her of the prizes. She also received a certificate, an office chair and corkboard in addition to a variety of resources and supplies she and her students can use throughout the school year.
The goal of OfficeMax’s “A Day Made Better” program is to work to erase teacher-funded classrooms.
“The presentation of the award completely took me by surprise. I’m beyond excited to be able to use these materials in my classroom,” Hillen said. “My students enjoyed getting to look at everything that was graciously given to our class by OfficeMax. All of the items donated will definitely help my students in their learning experience. The recognition of my hard work really means a lot to me. I can’t wait to start using the dry erase crayons.”
