Dr. Cleveland O. Lane Jr. has served on the Board of Trustees since November 2025, when he was elected to his first term. A 23-year resident of CFISD, Dr. Lane lives in Stone Gate with his wife, Perla J. Lane, and three children, Jayla (22), Cypress Ranch High School class of 2021; Jada (15), Cypress Falls High School student; and Cleveland Lane III (14), Cypress Falls student.

Dr. Lane is a professor of practice at Prairie View A&M University. He and his wife chose CFISD because, as Prairie View students, they watched the district grow and observed its commitment to excellence. His interactions with teachers, residents and community leaders made it their home to raise a family.

Dr. Lane serves as a volunteer at Lieder Elementary School Bus Buddies, and with Panther Pops on the Prowl. He has also volunteered with the Cypress Creek mentoring program, CFISD 1,000 Guys in Ties, CFISD WatchDOGS, CFISD Men of Honor, Reading Ranch and Spillane Middle School VIPS.

His 25-plus years in higher education as a biology professor and administrator give Dr. Lane a unique view of the future of CFISD graduates.

Outside of the district, Dr. Lane serves YMCA soccer, flag football and basketball; and participates with the Omega Psi Phi fraternity, AAU track and field and Cy-Fair Raven football and cheer teams.
