Julie Hinaman has long been dedicated to her community as an active volunteer. She has served on the Cypress-Fairbanks ISD Board of Trustees since June of 2019, when she was appointed to a vacant Position 2. She was then elected to a four-year term in November 2019 and served as Vice-President of the CFISD Board.
Julie was re-elected to the CFISD Board in 2023.
As a CFISD Global Volunteer, Julie volunteers on a regular basis at multiple schools. For the past 6 years, she has been mentoring students through the CFISD Mentor program and is a mentor/coach with the Cy-Hope Ambassadors of Compassion program. She has volunteered as a CFISD Bus Buddy for many years at multiple elementary schools.
Julie has served as chair of the CFISD Community Leadership Committee and co-chair of the CFISD Long Range Planning Committee that helped develop the 2019 $1.762B CFISD Bond program. She has also served on the Sampson Elementary PTO Board and the Cypress Woods HS band and drill team booster clubs. She was named the CFISD Friend of Education during the 2018 Wall of Fame Ceremony and received the 2019 State Board of Education Heroes for Children Award. Julie was recently honored by the North Harris County AAUW as the Outstanding Woman in Education 2023.
In addition to her volunteer duties in CFISD, Julie also serves on the Cy-Hope Board of Directors. She is a member of the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce, the Cy-Fair League of Women Voters, Cy-FARE, National Charity League - Cypress Gems and Cy-Fair 100 Women Who Care. Julie and her family are members of St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church where she has served on the vestry. She regularly attends academic, athletic, and fine arts events throughout the district and especially enjoys visiting students and teachers in their classrooms.
A 20-year resident of CFISD, Julie Hinaman lives in Cypress with her husband of 30 years and is the mother of two daughters. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Houston.
Julie enjoys reading, spending time with her family, and advocating for public education.
