Kendra Camarena has served on the Board of Trustees since November 2025, when she was elected to her first term. A seven-year resident of CFISD, Ms. Camarena lives in Towne Lake with her husband, Carlos, and two children, Carlos Camarena Jr. (20) and Cypress Ranch High School student Isabella (16).

Ms. Camarena is the director of partner engagement for Harris County Commissioner Precinct 4, and first moved to CFISD in 2004 when she was drawn to the excellent schools. After a brief time away, she and her family returned to CFISD where they wanted their children to learn and grow.
Ms. Camarena serves as a volunteer at Cypress Ranch High School and as a CFISD Bus Buddy, and has previously volunteered at Truitt Middle School and the CFISD Natatorium. 

She has more than 20 years of experience as an educator, which gives her a thorough understanding of the challenges and opportunities within public education. She has advocated for policies supporting strong public education while honing her skills in policy development and effective communication. 

Outside of CFISD, Ms. Camarena is a member of the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce, Delta Kappa Gamma and Community Voices for Public Education. She serves as a volunteer for the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, and a board member for the Harris County Opportunity Fund.
